Jordanian passport holders need a visa to enter Vietnam, and the eVisa is the route almost all of them take. Here is what you need, what it costs, how long it takes, and the details that matter when there's no Vietnamese embassy in Amman and no direct flight out of Queen Alia.
Yes, you need a visa. You'll find pages online telling Jordanians they can enter Vietnam visa free for 90 days. That's wrong, and believing it is how travelers end up refused at check-in.

Vietnam's 45-day exemption rests on two resolutions. Resolution 44/NQ-CP of 7 March 2025 covers 12 countries and Resolution 229/NQ-CP of 8 August 2025 adds 12 more, 24 in total. Jordan is on neither list, and no bilateral agreement exempts ordinary Jordanian passports.
Nothing exotic applies here. The visa requirements for Jordanian citizens are the standard ones for a non-exempt nationality, and the eVisa meets them all. Resolution 127/NQ-CP threw the scheme open to every country and territory on 15 August 2023, confirmed by the Embassy of Vietnam in the United States: up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, issued as a PDF.
Its geographic reach grew last December. With the 41 gates added by Resolution 389/NQ-CP on the 2nd, Vietnam lists 83 checkpoints, comprising 17 airports, 27 land border gates and 39 seaports. Long Thanh and Gia Binh are counted before opening, so about 15 airports are live, and the Gulf carriers set you down at one of them.
Then there is Phu Quoc, which waives the visa entirely for 30 days. It applies to any nationality arriving on the island straight from abroad by air or sea, holding a ticket out within 30 days, and staying put. The mainland breaks it.
Ties between the two countries are finally moving. King Abdullah II made the first visit to Vietnam by a Jordanian head of state on 12 November 2025, 45 years after relations opened, and asked that the two foreign ministries study a direct flight route and easier visa issuance. No embassy trip, no visa-on-arrival queue. That first point carries real weight in Jordan, because Vietnam keeps no embassy in Amman and the nearest mission is a Gulf flight away. You apply online, we check and file it, and the eVisa comes back as a PDF you print and carry.
We don't process visa-on-arrival letters and haven't for years. That route needs a pre-approval letter, works at a handful of airports, never at a land or sea border, and puts you in a queue after an overnight flight. The eVisa covers all 83 checkpoints and is settled before you leave Amman.

⚠️ On emergency and temporary passports there is no answer, so treat yours as untested. Nothing published by a Vietnamese government body or embassy says whether the eVisa system takes them, and we will not invent a position. Where you have an ordinary Jordanian passport, use that. Vietnam charges $25 for a single-entry eVisa and $50 for a multiple-entry one, a rate set by Circular 28/2026/TT-BTC and unchanged since 1 April 2026. On a $54 single-entry order, $25 goes to Vietnam and $29 is our fee for preparing, checking, filing and following up.
You can skip us entirely and apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for the stamp fee alone. Some people should. With three weeks in hand, that's the cheaper path and we won't pretend otherwise. What you pay us for is the review, the correction, and a human who answers when something goes wrong. The full fee breakdown lists every add-on. Three speeds, all priced per applicant:
Payment is not the trigger. The clock starts when the application arrives at Vietnam Immigration, normally within 2 business hours of your card going through. The statutory standard is 3 working days, real files take 3 to 5, and Tet closes Vietnamese offices for several days. From Amman the arithmetic is at least stable: neither country changes its clocks, so the 4-hour gap you plan around in March is the one you plan around in November.
The department owns that timeline; we do not. Filing quickly, chasing and correcting are ours, but an approval arrives when Immigration issues it. Apply one to two weeks before you fly and none of this matters. Flying inside 24 hours, call the hotline before paying so we can confirm we are able to deliver, and if we are not, we say so and refund you.
What matters is the route, not what the visa is called. In on one flight, out on another, and single entry does the whole job.
Multiple entry is the right call the moment your route leaves Vietnam and comes back. Jordanians rarely fly this far for one country, and a trip built around a Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur connection often picks up Cambodia or Laos. Hanoi to Siem Reap and back into Ho Chi Minh City on single entry spends the visa at the crossing out. The upgrade is $30 on a one-month visa, $10 on a three-month one. When in doubt, choose multiple entry.
One photograph, taken straight on, glasses off. That is the whole specification, and a picture that misses it is among the commonest reasons a file sits still. Meet these five and it goes through:
A white wall, daylight and a phone will produce it. A crop out of a holiday photo will not.
Nearly every Jordanian traveler lands at one of two airports: Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Noi Bai in Hanoi (HAN). Both are eVisa checkpoints, and both sit one connection from Amman through Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Istanbul.
Da Nang (DAD) is on the list too, the gateway to Hoi An and Hue, though from Amman it usually means a second connection. Phu Quoc (PQC) is an eVisa checkpoint in its own right, reachable on a domestic hop.
The overland and maritime coverage becomes relevant if the trip widens. Twenty-seven land crossings and 39 seaports admit eVisa holders, which is what makes a return overland from Cambodia or Laos workable. The issued document no longer carries a port-of-entry field either, so the checkpoint you named on the form does not bind you.
⚠️ At the airports you will really be using, Vietnam now expects a pre-arrival declaration. The Pre-Arrival Information system at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn belongs to the Immigration Department and opened at Tan Son Nhat on 15 April 2026, at Phu Quoc on 1 June, and at Noi Bai and Da Nang on 15 June 2026. Send passport, flight and accommodation details within three days of arrival and a QR code comes back. Mandatory according to Vietnamese state media, not currently a legal requirement according to the UK Foreign Office, so file it at those airports and consider it settled. It replaces no part of the visa.
A decree that took effect on 15 December 2025 made overstaying far more expensive. Decree 282/2025 displaced Decree 144/2021 and lifted the maximum fine from VND 20 million to VND 40 million, which is around USD 1,520 at the rates of the time.
Length of overstay determines the band. Below 16 days you are looking at VND 500,000 to 2 million, roughly USD 19 to 76. At 16 to 30 days it becomes VND 5 to 10 million, and further bands run up to the VND 40 million ceiling. December 2025 produced those dollar conversions, so treat them as approximate.
The fine is not the part that hurts. Deportation and a future entry ban both follow from an overstay, and UK Foreign Office guidance notes that Vietnamese authorities can stop you leaving until the fine is paid. Losing a Gulf connection home while all that is untangled costs far more than the penalty.
⚠️ Issue, not arrival, is what fixes your exit date. The validity window on the PDF derives from the entry date you supplied, so showing up three days late costs you three days rather than moving the end of the window. Count from the exit date printed on the document, not from the stamp you get at the border.
Yes. The eVisa has been open to citizens of every country and territory since August 2023, and Jordan has never been excluded. Vietnam publishes no restricted-nationality list, and the only bar written into law is individual rather than national: people subject to an entry suspension under Vietnam's immigration law. A Jordanian passport, a photograph and your travel dates are all the form asks for.
No, and this is the main reason the eVisa suits Jordanians. Vietnam keeps no embassy in Amman, and its ambassador to Jordan is non-resident. Jordan's Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs received his credentials in February 2025, and he is the same envoy the UAE accredited in Abu Dhabi in April 2024. A paper visa would mean a trip to the Gulf. The eVisa is filed online.
Urgent, yes. Visa on arrival, not through us. We file at Urgent for 2 business days or Super Urgent for 1 business day, though the clock still belongs to Vietnam Immigration. Visa on arrival survives only as a pre-approval letter scheme, and it still needs paperwork before you fly.
Nowhere on the mainland. Neither resolution carrying the 45-day exemption names Jordan, and no bilateral agreement covers ordinary Jordanian passports. Phu Quoc is the exception: a 30-day waiver, conditional on arriving directly from abroad and staying on the island.
Strictly, no. Phu Quoc waives the visa for 30 days if you arrive directly from abroad by air or sea and stay put. Nothing flies from Jordan to Phu Quoc, so you'd transit airside through Ho Chi Minh City onto a domestic hop, which still qualifies. Many apply anyway, because one night on the mainland voids it.
Getting there is one stop and most of a day. There's no nonstop service between Jordan and Vietnam, and a direct route was only raised as an idea in November 2025. The realistic patterns run through the Gulf or Istanbul. From Queen Alia, Doha is about 2 hours 40 minutes, Abu Dhabi about 3 hours 25 minutes, Dubai about 3 hours 45 minutes and Istanbul about 2 hours 15 minutes. Add roughly 7 to 8 hours from Doha or Dubai into Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, or 9 to 10 hours from Istanbul, and a normal connection puts you at 13 to 16 hours door to door. Royal Jordanian also flies nonstop to Bangkok twice a week, which reduces Vietnam to a short second hop.
Vietnam is exactly four hours ahead, all year. Jordan stopped changing its clocks in 2022, when the cabinet decided to keep summer time year round at GMT+3, and Vietnam at UTC+7 observes no daylight saving either. Plan around the Jordanian calendar, not only the Vietnamese one. What matters is when the ministries shut, because that is when a replacement passport stops being possible at home. Jordan closes for Eid and confirms the dates late. In 2026 the circular setting the Eid al-Fitr holiday from 20 to 23 March went out on 11 March, nine days ahead, and Independence Day on 25 May ran straight into an Eid al-Adha closure from 26 to 30 May, six days end to end. Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year, falling across February and early March in 2027. Summer is the other pinch point: Queen Alia handled a record 9.79 million passengers in 2025, July and August heaviest, as Jordanians working abroad come home.
Payment is in US dollars, and for once that's simple. We charge in USD, and the dinar has been pegged to the dollar since 1995, so the price you see converts at a rate that doesn't drift. Vietnam runs on the dong once you land, and cards work well in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City but thinly outside them, so carry cash.
