Yemeni passport holders need a visa to enter Vietnam, and the eVisa is the route almost all of them will want. Here is what Vietnam asks for, what it costs, how much time to allow, and the detail that matters whether you book from Aden, from Seiyun, or from a third country where you already live.
Yes, you need a visa. Vietnam's 45-day exemption sits in two instruments, Resolution 44/NQ-CP of 7 March 2025 covering 12 countries and Resolution 229/NQ-CP of 8 August 2025 covering 12 more, 24 in total. Yemen is on neither, and no bilateral agreement waives the visa for ordinary Yemeni passports. There is no length threshold either: a two-day stopover needs the same document as a two-month stay.
The visa requirements for Yemeni citizens are the ones Vietnam applies to every non-exempt nationality, and the eVisa meets them in full. Vietnam opened the eVisa to citizens of all countries and territories on 15 August 2023 under Resolution 127/NQ-CP, confirmed by the Embassy of Vietnam in the United States. Yemen is inside that. Vietnam's national eVisa portal publishes no list of excluded nationalities, and the only statutory bar it names is Article 21 of the entry and residence law, which turns on individuals rather than on passports.
The eVisa runs up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and arrives as a PDF. Resolution 389/NQ-CP of 2 December 2025 added 41 border gates, taking the total to 83 checkpoints: 17 airports, 27 land border gates and 39 seaports. Long Thanh and Gia Binh count only once operating, so about 15 airports are usable today, all of them ones you might realistically use.
There is one carve-out. Arrive on Phu Quoc straight from abroad by air or sea, hold a ticket out inside 30 days and remain on the island, and no nationality needs a visa. No embassy trip, no visa-on-arrival queue. That first point matters more here than for most nationalities: Vietnam keeps no resident mission in Yemen. Consular responsibility sits with the Vietnamese Embassy in Riyadh, and Ambassador Hoang Huu Anh, resident in Saudi Arabia, presented his credentials at Ma'shiq Palace in Aden on 16 July 2025. A paper visa would mean reaching a mission in another country. The eVisa travels with you instead: the portal asks only that you are outside Vietnam holding a valid passport, so a Yemeni citizen living in Riyadh, Cairo or Kuala Lumpur uses the same form as someone applying from Aden.
One thing to know before you spend anything with us. We read every application before it goes anywhere, and if we do not believe we can help you, we say so before you pay and refund you if you already have. We would rather lose the order than take money for a submission we have doubts about.
Six things, and it is usually the first two that hold an application up.
⚠️ Emergency and temporary travel documents sit in a gap nobody has published a rule for, so do not assume yours will be accepted. No Vietnamese government or embassy source says whether they work for an eVisa, and we will not guess with your trip. Apply on your ordinary Yemeni passport where you can. All prices include the Vietnam Immigration Department's stamp fee. Here is the arithmetic. Vietnam charges $25 for a single-entry eVisa and $50 for a multiple-entry one, a rate set by Circular 28/2026/TT-BTC and unchanged since 1 April 2026. On a $54 single-entry order, $25 passes straight to Vietnam and $29 is our fee for preparing, checking, filing and following up.
You can leave us out and apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for the stamp fee alone. With a straightforward passport and a month in hand, that is the cheaper path and we will not pretend otherwise. What you pay us for is the second read, the correction, and a person who answers. Our full fee breakdown lists every surcharge. The stamp fee is not refunded if an application is refused.

Those figures measure time at Vietnam Immigration, which your file reaches inside about 2 business hours of payment. The statutory standard is 3 working days. The everyday reality is 3 to 5, with Vietnamese public holidays stretching it further.
The timeline belongs to Vietnam Immigration, not to us. We can file quickly, chase, and correct an error before it becomes a refusal, but we cannot make a decision land sooner than the department issues it, and any application can sit longer than the published standard without a reason being given. The answer to that is time rather than money. We tell most nationalities to apply one to two weeks out; we would tell you to apply a month out if your dates allow. Flying inside 24 hours? Call the hotline before paying, and if we cannot deliver we will say so and refund you.
The itinerary decides this, not the product name. If Vietnam sits between one arrival and one departure, single entry does the job.
Multiple entry earns its money the moment your route leaves Vietnam and comes back. Few people fly this far for one country, and an itinerary built around a Gulf or Cairo connection often picks up Thailand, Cambodia or Malaysia on the same ticket. Fly Hanoi to Bangkok and back into Ho Chi Minh City on a single-entry visa and it is spent the moment you cross out. The upgrade costs $30 on a one-month visa and $10 on a three-month one. When in doubt, choose multiple entry.
This is the item most likely to cost you a trip, and it is worth checking today rather than the week you book. Vietnam wants six months of validity beyond your planned exit, so seven months left is already marginal.
Renewing takes real time if you are outside Yemen. The Embassy of Yemen in The Hague sets out the consular route and states that passports are issued only after approval from Yemen's main issuance center, and that processing takes 30 to 90 days.
⚠️ Count backwards from your travel date, not forwards from today. A renewal alone can take three months, before you apply for anything Vietnamese. Settle the passport first, then apply on the new document, because the eVisa is tied to the passport number you enter.
Vietnam's instruction is a single line: a photograph, straight on, without glasses. Room enough to get it wrong, and a bad image is an ordinary reason files stop moving. These five points close the gap:

Almost everyone lands at one of two airports, for routing reasons rather than legal ones. Noi Bai in Hanoi (HAN) and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) take the great majority of arrivals, because they are the two Vietnamese airports with nonstop service from the Gulf. Doha is the cleanest single connection, about seven hours in the air to either city.
Da Nang (DAD) is an eVisa checkpoint and the gateway to Hoi An and Hue, but from the Arabian Peninsula it needs a second connection, usually through Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. Phu Quoc (PQC) is a checkpoint in its own right, reachable on a domestic hop from Ho Chi Minh City. The eVisa also covers 27 land crossings and 39 seaports, and the port-of-entry field has been dropped from the issued document, so you are not tied to the checkpoint you nominated.
One more filing waits at the far end, and it is not the visa. Pre-Arrival Information, run by the Immigration Department at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn, rolled out through 2026: Tan Son Nhat from 15 April, Phu Quoc from 1 June, Noi Bai and Da Nang from 15 June. Enter passport, flight and accommodation details within three days of landing and a QR code comes back. Its legal status is contested: mandatory per Vietnamese state media, not currently a legal requirement per the UK Foreign Office. Complete it at those airports, separately from the eVisa.
Late 2025 brought a much heavier penalty for staying past your date. Decree 282/2025 replaced Decree 144/2021 on 15 December 2025 and took the maximum fine from VND 20 million up to VND 40 million, roughly USD 1,520 at the time.
How much you pay depends on how long you stayed. Fewer than 16 days sits at VND 500,000 to 2 million, about USD 19 to 76. The 16-to-30-day band is VND 5 to 10 million, about USD 190 to 380, with further bands to the ceiling. The dollar equivalents are December 2025 conversions, so read them loosely.
The fine is not the real problem. An overstay is also grounds for deportation and a future entry ban, and UK Foreign Office guidance notes that Vietnamese authorities can stop you leaving until it is paid. Being held while that is resolved, on a routing that may have one flight a week at the far end, costs far more than the money.
⚠️ The issue date sets the window, and your arrival does not move it. The PDF builds its validity around the entry date you typed on the form, so a delay on the Yemen leg eats into your stay rather than extending it at the other end. Take the exit date from the PDF, not the stamp.
No. There is no resident Vietnamese mission in Yemen, and coverage runs from the embassy in Riyadh, whose ambassador is accredited to Yemen and presented his credentials in Aden in July 2025. For an eVisa that makes no practical difference: the application is filed online, there is no interview, and nobody needs your passport in their hands.
The list is short and Vietnam is not on it. Yemen appears in neither Vietnamese exemption resolution and holds no bilateral waiver for ordinary passports. What Vietnam offers instead is an eVisa open to every nationality without exception, which beats a visa you can only get in person.
None, and no bank statement is requested. The form wants your passport details, a photograph, your travel dates and your entry point. It does not ask for proof of funds, an itinerary, a hotel booking or a return ticket. The one exception is the Phu Quoc waiver, which needs an onward ticket out of Vietnam within 30 days.
Yes, and many applicants do. The condition is that you are outside Vietnam holding a valid passport, not that you are in your country of citizenship. Apply from Riyadh, Cairo, Amman or anywhere else on your Yemeni passport, using your current address. No residency permit is requested.
Not from us. We stopped processing visa-on-arrival letters and recommend the eVisa to everyone. That route still needs paperwork before you fly, works at a small number of airports and never at a land or sea border, and ends in a queue at the end of a long journey.
Getting out is the long part; the flight to Vietnam is the short part. There is no nonstop service between Yemen and Vietnam. International departures concentrate on Aden (ADE) and Seiyun (GXF), with Yemenia and FlyAden running the regional network. FlyAden began Aden to Cairo service in December 2025 and added Dammam from 5 July 2026, while Yemenia's Aden to Jeddah service rises from 8 to 10 weekly flights on 29 September 2026. Amman, Riyadh and Djibouti round out the set, and Sanaa (SAH) carries only a thin international schedule. From any of those points you pick up a long-haul carrier. Budget two connections and the better part of a day, and leave margin on the Yemen leg, where schedules move at short notice. Many Yemeni travelers start from a third country where they already live, which reduces this to one connection and changes nothing about the visa.
Vietnam is four hours ahead, all year. Yemen keeps Arabia Standard Time at UTC+03:00 and does not observe daylight saving, and Vietnam sits at UTC+7 with no seasonal change either, so the gap is a flat four hours in every month. Watch both calendars. Yemeni missions abroad list the national dates that close consular counters: 22 May for unification, 26 September, 14 October and 30 November, alongside Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, whose dates follow the Islamic calendar and are confirmed locally. Ramadan and both Eids move about eleven days earlier each year, and they are when regional flights fill first. Vietnamese offices close for several days at Tet.
Payment is in US dollars. Your card issuer converts at its own rate, so expect a small gap between the price on screen and the figure on your statement. Vietnam runs on the dong once you land, and cards are widely accepted in the cities but not outside them.
