Moroccan passport holders need a visa to enter Vietnam. If you have been reading up on where Moroccans can travel without a visa, Vietnam is not one of those places, so here is what the eVisa asks for, what it costs, how long it takes, and what matters when you fly out of Casablanca.
Yes, you need a visa. Twenty-four nationalities hold Vietnam's 45-day exemption, twelve named in Resolution 44/NQ-CP of 7 March 2025 and twelve more in Resolution 229/NQ-CP of 8 August 2025. Morocco is in neither group, and no bilateral agreement covers the ordinary Moroccan passport.
The Moroccan passport travels well, which is exactly why this catches people out. The Henley Passport Index published on 16 February 2026 put Morocco 62nd, up three places, with 72 destinations reachable without a visa arranged first. Vietnam is not among them, and Southeast Asia is no longer a safe assumption either: Thailand withdrew visa-free entry for Moroccan nationals on 7 June 2026. The route in is short, at least. Vietnam opened the eVisa to citizens of all countries and territories on 15 August 2023 under Resolution 127/NQ-CP, confirmed by the Embassy of Vietnam in the United States. It runs up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and arrives as a PDF. No stay is short enough to skip it: tourism, a family visit, a conference or a short business trip all need the visa before you board, and no airline in Casablanca will check you through without one.
The map of places it works on got bigger in December 2025. Resolution 389/NQ-CP, dated 2 December, opened 41 more border gates, bringing the total to 83 checkpoints: 17 airports, 27 land border gates and 39 seaports. Two airports, Long Thanh and Gia Binh, are listed ahead of opening, leaving about 15 in service. Every one-stop routing out of Casablanca ends at one of them.
Phu Quoc is the single carve-out. Reach the island straight from abroad by air or sea, hold a ticket out inside 30 days and stay on it, and no visa applies. Cross to the mainland for a night and the waiver is gone.
No embassy trip, no visa-on-arrival queue. Vietnam does keep a resident mission in Morocco, the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at 27 Mezzouda, Souissi, Rabat, so a paper visa is possible from home. It still means a trip to Rabat with your passport out of your hands.
Visa-on-arrival letters are not something we handle. That scheme reaches a short list of airports, no land crossing and no seaport, and ends with you at a counter after 17 hours of flying. The eVisa is good at all 83 checkpoints and is finished business before you leave Casablanca.

⚠️ Nobody can tell you whether an emergency or temporary passport will be accepted, so do not gamble on yours. No Vietnamese government or embassy source answers the question, and guessing is not something we will do. File on your ordinary Moroccan passport where possible. All prices include the Vietnam Immigration Department's stamp fee. Here is the arithmetic. Vietnam charges $25 for a single-entry eVisa and $50 for a multiple-entry one, a rate set by Circular 28/2026/TT-BTC and unchanged since 1 April 2026. On a $54 single-entry order, $25 goes to Vietnam and $29 is our fee for preparing, checking, filing and chasing it.
You can skip us and file it yourself at evisa.gov.vn for the stamp fee alone, and some people should. With three weeks in hand and a straightforward passport, that is the cheaper path. What you pay us for is the review, the correction, and a person who answers when something goes wrong. The full fee breakdown lists every add-on. Either way, the stamp fee is not refunded if the application is refused.
Three speeds, each priced per applicant:
None of those clocks start at checkout. They start when the file lands with Vietnam Immigration, normally about 2 business hours later. Three working days is the statutory standard, 3 to 5 is what actually happens, and Tet pushes it further while Vietnamese offices close for days. Your own clock matters too: Vietnam runs 6 hours ahead of Morocco, and 7 in the Ramadan weeks described below, so a Vietnamese working day falls largely inside your night.
That timeline is the department's, not ours. Filing, chasing and correcting are within our reach; moving an approval up the queue is not. Give yourself one to two weeks and the speed tiers stop mattering. Flying inside 24 hours, phone before paying so we can tell you whether it is doable. When it is not, we say so first and refund you.
Let the itinerary pick the visa, not the label on it. If the route is one arrival and one departure, single entry carries you from the first day to the last.
Multiple entry earns its place the moment the route leaves Vietnam and comes back. Few people fly 17 hours from Casablanca for one country, and a trip built around Vietnam usually picks up Cambodia or Laos. Hanoi to Siem Reap and back into Ho Chi Minh City on single entry spends the visa at the crossing out. The upgrade is $30 on a one-month visa, $10 on a three-month one. When in doubt, choose multiple entry.
All the portal specifies is a photograph taken square-on with no glasses, yet it is still a common reason a file goes nowhere. An image clearing these five points is safe:
Daylight, a white wall and a phone camera are enough. A face cropped out of a holiday picture is not.
Royal Air Maroc's long-haul map decides this, not the entry rules. Its network reaches Doha, Dubai and Beijing, and the Gulf and Istanbul hubs Casablanca connects through run nonstop into two Vietnamese airports. So Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Noi Bai in Hanoi (HAN) absorb almost every Moroccan arrival, on one stop.
A third sector opens the rest of the country. Da Nang (DAD) sits on the eVisa list and is the way into Hoi An and Hue, though from Casablanca it means a second connection. Phu Quoc (PQC) is a checkpoint in its own right, a domestic hop away.
Coverage away from the airports matters on a regional loop. Twenty-seven land crossings take eVisa holders, and 39 seaports do too, so walking back in from Cambodia or Laos is fine. The issued eVisa no longer prints a port of entry, so nominating one does not tie you to it.
⚠️ A pre-arrival declaration is now expected at the airports you will actually land in. Vietnam's Immigration Department runs the system at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn, live at Tan Son Nhat from 15 April 2026, Phu Quoc from 1 June and Noi Bai and Da Nang from 15 June 2026. File passport, flight and accommodation details inside the three days before you land and a QR code comes back. State media in Vietnam calls it mandatory, the UK Foreign Office says it is not yet a legal requirement, so plan on filing it.
Staying past your date became a much more expensive mistake in December 2025. Decree 282/2025 came into force on the 15th, retired Decree 144/2021, and lifted the ceiling from VND 20 million to VND 40 million, a doubling that works out near USD 1,520.
What you pay tracks how long you stayed. Fifteen days or fewer sits at VND 500,000 to 2 million, call it USD 19 to 76. Past 16 days the band leaps to VND 5 to 10 million, near USD 190 to 380, with further bands up to the ceiling. Those dollar figures use December 2025 rates.
The fine is the smaller half of the problem. Overstaying also opens the door to deportation and a ban on future entry, and UK Foreign Office guidance notes that Vietnamese authorities can stop you leaving until the fine is paid. Rebooking a one-stop routing home while that is resolved costs several times the penalty.
⚠️ The window on your eVisa is set at issue, not at the border. Those dates on the PDF come from the entry date you typed into the form, so landing three days behind schedule shortens the trip rather than shifting it. Work backwards from the exit date printed on the document, not forwards from the stamp in your passport.
No. Vietnam's resident embassy in Rabat, at 27 Mezzouda in Souissi, handles consular work for Morocco, but the eVisa is filed online and never touches it. From Marrakech, Tangier or Agadir that saves a trip and days without your passport.
The Henley Passport Index of February 2026 counts 72 destinations open to Moroccan passport holders without a visa arranged first, ranking Morocco 62nd. Most of that access sits in Africa, parts of Latin America and a shrinking set of Asian countries. Vietnam has never been on it, and Thailand came off in June 2026.
None, and no bank statement is requested. The form wants passport details, a photograph, travel dates and an entry point, and nothing about proof of funds, itineraries, hotel bookings or onward tickets. The one financial condition worth planning for is the Phu Quoc waiver, which needs an onward ticket within 30 days.
Not through us. Visa-on-arrival letters are outside what we file. The scheme survives as pre-approval paperwork, reaches a handful of airports and no land or sea border, and still has to be arranged before departure. After a long Gulf connection, a counter queue is the last thing you want.
Strictly, no. The island grants 30 days to anyone who reaches it straight from abroad by air or sea and stays put. No Moroccan city has a service to Phu Quoc, so the trip runs airside through Ho Chi Minh City onto a domestic sector, which still counts as direct. Most people buy the eVisa regardless, because one night on the mainland cancels the waiver.
Getting there costs the better part of a day. No nonstop service links Morocco and Vietnam, and one stop is the realistic best case. Casablanca flies nonstop to Doha, Istanbul, Dubai and Paris, roughly 62 times a month each to Doha and Istanbul, and Royal Air Maroc lists Doha, Dubai and Beijing on its own long-haul network. Doha is shortest: about 7 hours 25 minutes out, then 6 hours 45 minutes to Hanoi or 7 hours 45 minutes to Ho Chi Minh City. Istanbul is close behind and often cheaper, about 5 hours out and 9 hours 30 minutes to 10 hours 20 minutes onward. Budget 17 to 22 hours door to door.
Vietnam is six hours ahead of Morocco today, and seven from 20 September 2026. Vietnam holds UTC+7 year round with no daylight saving. Morocco has run on UTC+1 since 2018, dropping to UTC+0 for the weeks of Ramadan, which widened the gap to seven hours for that stretch. Decree 2.26.530, published in the Official Bulletin on 29 June 2026, returns Morocco to GMT permanently at 02:00 on 20 September 2026, abrogating the 2018 decree and retiring the Ramadan switch with it. Plan around the Moroccan calendar, not just the Vietnamese one. Morocco's 17 public holidays are fixed by decree 2-77-169, and the public administration works Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30. Three land inside eight days in August: Oued Eddahab Allegiance Day on the 14th, Revolution of the King and the People on the 20th and Youth Day on the 21st, with Throne Day on 30 July just before. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha each close offices for two days and move about eleven days earlier each year. August is also when the country is fullest: Operation Marhaba brought more than 2.74 million Moroccans living abroad home by 3 August 2026. Replace a passport well outside that window.
Payment is in US dollars. Your card issuer converts from dirhams at its own rate, so expect a small gap between the screen price and your statement. Vietnam runs on the dong once you land, and cards work well in the big cities but thinly in the countryside.
