Omani passport holders need a visa to enter Vietnam, and the easiest one is the eVisa: you apply online, it's valid for up to 90 days, and it costs from $54 with us, the $25 Vietnam Immigration fee included. Here's what a Vietnam visa for Omani citizens takes, from the passport check to the Dubai connection, and why nobody needs an embassy in Abu Dhabi or Doha for it.
Yes, you need a visa. Oman isn't on either of Vietnam's 45-day exemption lists. Resolution 44/NQ-CP of March 7, 2025 names 12 countries, from the UK and Germany to Japan and South Korea, and Resolution 229/NQ-CP of August 8, 2025 adds 12 more European countries, for tourism only. No Gulf state appears on either list. Oman is also absent from the 15 countries with bilateral visa-free agreements, whose limits run from 14 days (Brunei) to 90 days (Chile and Panama).
What you can get is the eVisa. Citizens of every country and territory can apply for a Vietnam eVisa, and that's been the rule since August 15, 2023, with single or multiple entry your choice. Omanis get the plain version of the form: the eVisa system marks only Nigeria, Ghana and Congo as restricted nationalities, which adds mandatory questions, and Oman isn't one of them. Once issued, the eVisa is accepted at 83 border crossings: 17 airports, 27 land border gates and 39 seaports.
An Omani passport goes visa-free in one place: Phu Quoc island, for up to 30 days, if you arrive from abroad direct or by staying in the transit area of another Vietnamese international airport. The exemption ends at the island's shore: carry on to the mainland without a visa and you can be fined VND 3 to 5 million.
If you live in Oman on another country's passport, Vietnam's exemptions follow citizenship, so your own passport's rules apply. Check the Vietnam visa rules by nationality.
No embassy trip, no visa-on-arrival line. From Muscat the embassy trip would be a long one: the Vietnamese ambassador accredited to Oman sits in Riyadh, so a visa from a mission means dealing with Saudi Arabia. The eVisa needs no mission at all. You fill in one form online, and the approved eVisa is a PDF file downloaded from evisa.gov.vn, which we email to you. We don't process visa-on-arrival letters anymore; with the eVisa you land with the visa already issued.
Gather these before you open the form:
⚠️ An emergency or temporary passport can't carry an eVisa. Vietnam Immigration's eVisa portal doesn't issue visas for emergency or temporary passports. If yours was lost and you hold a stopgap document, wait for the full replacement, apply on it, and enter and leave Vietnam on that same passport.
| Option | Validity | Our fee (per applicant) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Month Single Entry | 30 days from arrival | $54 |
| 1 Month Multiple Entry | 30 days from arrival | $84 |
| 3 Month Single Entry | 90 days from arrival | $94 |
| 3 Month Multiple Entry | 90 days from arrival | $104 |
All prices include the Vietnam Immigration Department's stamp fee. Add-ons and group orders are in the full fee breakdown.
We publish the split because you should see it. Of each price above, $25 goes to Vietnam Immigration for single entry and $50 for multiple, the same stamp fee evisa.gov.vn shows, and the remainder is ours. On the $54 option that leaves $29 for us ($54 minus $25); on the $104 option, $54 ($104 minus $50). Nothing stops you filing at evisa.gov.vn yourself for the stamp fee alone. Our share pays for a check of your form against your passport before it's filed, and for someone to chase and fix it if Immigration comes back with a query.
Refunds work in two layers. Vietnam Immigration keeps its fee if it refuses an application. We refund in full if you cancel within 5 to 10 minutes of applying or if we catch a problem before submitting, such as an invalid passport, and not at all once the eVisa is issued. A family or group can put up to 10 people in one order at the same per-person price. Vietnam Visa by BDA is a private company; we're not affiliated with the Vietnamese government.
You pick the speed at checkout, priced per person:
Those times run from when your application reaches Vietnam Immigration, normally within 2 business hours of payment, not from checkout. Vietnamese law then gives Immigration 3 working days to decide once it holds the complete application and the fee; in practice 3 to 5 is normal, and longer around Vietnamese holidays.
Tet is the big one. In 2027, Vietnam's civil service, Immigration included, is off from Thursday, February 4 to Wednesday, February 10, so a file submitted on February 3 sits out the whole break. If you're planning to fly over Eid al-Fitr in March, file before February 4 or after February 10.
Vietnam Immigration sets the pace, not us: we can file, chase and correct, but we can't push an approval up the line. Allow one to two weeks before your flight from Muscat and the speed tiers stop mattering. If you're flying within 24 hours, phone +84 832 320 320 before paying and we'll tell you whether it can be done; if it can't, we say so up front and refund.
Count how many times you'll cross into Vietnam, not how many days you'll stay. Changing planes in Dubai doesn't use an entry, and neither does a domestic flight from Hanoi to Da Nang. A side trip to Cambodia, Laos or Thailand does: a single-entry eVisa ends the moment you leave Vietnam, so coming back in needs a multiple-entry one.
Multiple entry costs $30 more on a 1-month eVisa ($84 against $54) and $10 more on a 3-month one ($104 against $94). A second 1-month single-entry eVisa would cost another $54, so the upgrade is the cheaper mistake. When in doubt, choose multiple entry.
The eVisa portal's photo rule fits on one line, and Immigration checks every part of it. Before you upload, check five things:
Size it to 4x6 cm and save it as a JPG or JPEG under 2MB. The portal's rule says no hat and lists no exception for religious head coverings. If you wear a hijab or cover your head for another religious reason, email us or call before you apply, and we'll look at your photo before anything is filed.
Under 10 minutes, no signup required. Our application guide shows every screen.
The realistic route from Muscat is one stop through Dubai. Emirates' own schedule shows Muscat to Ho Chi Minh City via Dubai at 11 hours 55 minutes to 12 hours 20 minutes in total. The Dubai legs:
That puts you into Noi Bai in Hanoi or Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, and the one you'll land at is the gate to put on your application. An eVisa only works at border gates on the government's list. If you're flying on to Da Nang or Phu Quoc, connecting to a domestic flight means clearing immigration at the first Vietnamese airport, so that airport is your entry gate, not the last one.
If anyone in your group travels on a UAE passport, the Vietnam visa page for Emirati citizens covers their rules.
With an eVisa you can stay until the end date on the eVisa, and that date doesn't move if your flight home slips. Fines come from Decree 282/2025/ND-CP, in force since December 15, 2025, and rise with every band:
From 16 days over, the fine stops being the main risk. Deportation can be added at that point, and anyone deported is refused entry to Vietnam for three years. Britain's travel advice adds that overstayers can be stopped from leaving until the fine is paid.
⚠️ Buy the length you need before you go. Extensions are done from inside Vietnam, through a sponsor applying to Vietnam Immigration, and we don't handle extensions. If the trip could run past 30 days, take the 3-month eVisa from the start: single entry is $94, $40 more than the 1-month.
In law, Oman is one of the clearer cases. Visa on arrival is allowed in six situations, the first being travel from a country with no Vietnamese visa office, which fits Oman. But a sponsor in Vietnam has to get Immigration's approval first, and the border fee is the same $25 single or $50 multiple. We don't arrange approval letters; here's how visa-on-arrival approval letters work. For a holiday, the eVisa skips the sponsor.
Not for an eVisa, which is handled entirely online. The Riyadh embassy, whose ambassador is also accredited to Oman, matters only if you want a visa issued by a mission instead. Check its details first: in October 2026, its website's footer showed the London embassy's address.
Not legally, if you arrive from abroad: Phu Quoc is visa-free for up to 30 days. The catch is the mainland. The exemption covers the island only, and a day in Ho Chi Minh City without a visa can mean a VND 3 to 5 million fine. If your plans or your flight home might take you through the mainland on a domestic leg, get the eVisa first.
Nothing that changes the answer for Omanis: you still need a visa. Since December 2, 2025, 41 more border gates accept eVisas, including Vinh and Chu Lai airports. Decree 282/2025/ND-CP set new overstay fines from December 15, 2025. Circular 28/2026/TT-BTC, in force from April 1, 2026, sets the eVisa fee at $25 single and $50 multiple.
⚠️ Abu Dhabi and Doha aren't your embassies. Some visa pages still tell Omanis to apply at a Vietnamese mission in Abu Dhabi or Doha. The embassy accredited to Oman is the one in Riyadh, and for the eVisa you don't need an embassy at all.
Elsewhere in Middle East: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Israel.
